Collection: Sewing Retreats and Workshops
Its just so rewarding hosting Sewing Retreats and Workshops, I love them!
My husband and I have holiday accommodation on our farm in the far South Western corner of the UK, not too far from the famous landmark, Land's End. The area is a very popular holiday destination, hence our diversification from farming. We converted redundant stone barns that sadly could not house farm machinery or livestock anymore, due to modern farming methods and needs. We are lucky to still live on the farm surrounded by our farmland, which now grows vegetables, corn and daffodils. Our farm also provides homes for four generations of our family. Henry and I love having all of our family around us and are now proud to be Grandparents to William and Florence.
During the Winter months we like to keep our business open for guests to enjoy. I have a passion for sewing which was introduced to me years ago by my Mother, who made her own soft furnishings for our home. My sister and I also had beautiful dresses handmade for us when we was growing up. When we converted the barns, Mum helped me with the curtains and soft furnishings. I was keen to keep our business open all year around and really wanted to host sewing retreats. Our first retreat was held in 2016 and the sewing retreats have grown from then. I've been lucky enough to see a lot of beautiful quilts over these years and have got into quilt making and design myself, which I love doing. Additionally, I teach day workshops which are also becoming very popular, which include Free Motion Applique pictures, lamp shade making, cushion making and improvised quilting. I hope to expand the day workshops soon which are held at the farm during the winter months with an alternative venue nearby for the rest of the year.
